Natural Swimming Pools

This kind of thinking is superb. I have long been interested in ways that humans can meet their needs without the sacrifice of other living forms or their habitat. This swimming pool\wetland seeks to do just that. While I suspect that in practice it doesn’t work quite as idyllic as the video portrays, it is nonetheless an example to the world of what can be done.

How would it look if we put these in suburban backyards? What would the effects on water demand be, not to mention habitat restoration.

Asheville, North Carolina hemp house featured in documentary, Bringing It Home, about the battle for industrial hemp, the history of hemp, and how it could drastically cut the energy and money spent heating and cooling homes. Currently, it’s illegal to grow industrial hemp, marijuana’s close cousin, in the U.S.–despite the fact that it’s a non-psychoactive homebuilding material that’s saved one Asheville homeowner 75% on heating and cooling costs.

"The City codes are in violation of our natural and Constitutional rights to live freely while causing damage to no one, and since there is no damaged party, there has been no crime committed on our part. Rather, the City of Arlington has trespassed and committed robbery against us, amongst other crimes, and will be held accountable in a court of law in due time. We have been targeted by the system because we are showing people how to live without it. We are growing more than just tomatoes here, we are growing the consciousness that will allow people to live freely and sustainably, and the system doesn’t want that to be known."

Landowner Shellie Smith, in response to her sustainable co-op in Texas being raided by swat teams and helicopters over “drugs”, none of which were found.   (via thefreelioness)

i feel like it’s a universal truth that all guys would go gay for Zac Efron and all girls would go gay for Natalie Dormer

I believe you mean John Stamos. Girls don’t even go straight for Zac Efron anymore…

Norwegian forest cats are the best.
They look like little snow lions.

MORE REASONS WHY NORWEGIAN FOREST CATS ARE THE BEST:
The colloquial term for them is “skogkatten”.
They’re also called “fairy cats” in Norway, because they’re so pretty.
They run down trees headfirst.
They’re fricking gigantic and they purr really loud.
They literally walk over snow like motherloving Legolas.
In Norse mythology, skogkatts pull the goddess Freya’s carriage.
Who doesn’t want a carriage pulled by cats?
Viking cats. End of story.

Oh what a terrible thing it appears that I haven’t reblogged these glorious beasts this year yet
